Digital-asset escrow for the application lifecycle.
Stage: Custodian partner search · Model: segregated, milestone-gated escrow
What this vertical does
Today, an applicant funding a program with crypto typically hands it to an agent who converts it to fiat and wires it in — a single, irreversible handoff with no visibility into what happens between that moment and a government decision months later. ImmiCrypt's Custody vertical replaces that with regulated, insured, multi‑signature escrow: the applicant's crypto, stablecoin, or CBDC balance sits in segregated custody — never commingled with ImmiCrypt's own operating funds — and releases only against agreed program milestones, with real‑time attestation available to both the applicant and the receiving CIU at every stage.
Why segregation and milestone-gating matter
Two failure modes exist in the current agent‑conversion model: commingling (the agent holds client funds alongside their own, a classic custody risk) and irreversibility (once converted and wired, an applicant has no recourse if the application stalls or is rejected). Segregated, milestone‑gated escrow addresses both — funds are held under the applicant's name throughout, never touch ImmiCrypt's balance sheet, and only move forward as the application actually progresses: intake, due diligence, approval, grant. If a program stalls at due diligence, the funds simply stay in escrow at that gate rather than having already been irreversibly delivered.
Why the Basel reference matters
The custody model is designed with reference to the Basel Committee's prudential standard for banks' cryptoasset exposures — not because ImmiCrypt is a bank today, but so the framework can eventually plug into regulated banking partners rather than sit permanently outside the banking system. Building to that standard now, while pre‑launch, is meant to avoid a costly re‑architecture later when a banking partnership becomes necessary for scale.
The four gates
- Intake — funds move into escrow once Compliance's Verify stage clears.
- Due diligence — held while the receiving CIU conducts its own program-specific review.
- Approval — released toward Settlement once the program formally approves the application.
- Grant — final settlement confirmation lands alongside the citizenship, residency, or PR grant itself.
Status today
This vertical is in custodian partner search — ImmiCrypt is evaluating regulated custody partners rather than self-custodying client funds, consistent with keeping this pre-launch and building toward the licenses this rail will eventually require. Nothing described here is a live custody service today; see our Terms & Disclaimer.
